Thanks to the easy access from offshore islands to the mainland, native birds frequently use Glover Park (legend "j" on the map), along with the surrounding bush at its northern edge (legend "d"), as important ecological corridors.
These corridors act as vital refuges for native fauna—including birds, lizards, and insects—offering shelter and food as they navigate through the Eastern Bays area
There is also significant ecological areas (SEA) (forest green outline) that runs along the northern part of Glover Park outside it’s boundary but also a small section within the park boundaries (dark green area almost 2ha). SEA are designated as areas that meets one or more of the following criteria:
Representativeness
Threat status and rarity
Diversity
Stepping Stones, migration, pathways and buffers
uniqueess and distinctiveness
Auckland Council aims to protect these areas, so that they maintained indigenous biodiversity
