The Ōrākei Enviro Forum 2026 is back on 19 April, 1–5pm, and this year’s event is shaping up to be our most inspiring yet. Join us for an afternoon that celebrates the whenua, the moana, and the incredible community working to protect them. Enjoy light refreshments as you wander through interactive displays, meet local environmental groups, and discover practical ways you can get involved in restoration across Ōrākei local board areas and beyond. A highlight of the day will be a special speaker from Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, sharing insights into restoration through a Te Ao Māori lens—grounding the event in whakapapa, kaitiakitanga, and deep connection to place.
Step into the future of conservation with a look at how drones are transforming restoration work, from monitoring native species to mapping pest plants. Then, transport yourself into other worlds with virtual reality experiences that let you walk through an ancient forest or dive beneath the surface of the Hauraki Gulf and the Poor Knights Islands. Settle in to watch the inspiring short films Think Like a Forest and Heal the Hauraki, and feel the momentum of community-led change. With hands‑on activities, local experts, and experiences for all ages, this event truly has something for everyone. Great prizes and giveaways will be up for grab so we hope to see you there!
